Gospel recording artists BeBe Winans and Byron Cage sang at the Martin Luther King Ceremonial Groundbreaking event in Washington, DC, on Monday, November 13, 2006.  A crowd of more than 3,000 attended including the President, members of Congress, members of the King family, celebrities, and people from all across the nation.

Thousands stood to their feet and worshipped as BeBe sang “Stand” along with the Ebenezer AME Church Choir.  Byron Cage approached the microphone and said, "let's sing a song of celebration."  The Ebenezer AME Church Choir joined Byron Cage as he sang "I Will Bless The Lord."

BeBe Winans, Margaret Bell, and the Ebenezer AME Choir sang "Oh Happy Day" as Rev. Jesse Jackson, Andrew Young, the King Family and other VIPs marched to the area where the shovels stood in the dirt dedicated for the ground breaking. This portion of the ceremony was an emotional time as both Rev. Jesse Jackson and Andrew were overcome with tears as they reflected on the life and work of Martin Luther King, Jr. Both Rev. Jesse Jackson and Andrew were with Dr. King for that great March on Washington.

The words on the banner at the groundbreaking ceremony displayed these words: Democracy, Justice, Hope, and Love.
