The Lord will provide for me...
During the siege of Rochelle which was endured with unexampled bravery for nearly fifteen months famine reduced the inhabitants to the misery of being obliged to have recourse to the flesh of horses, mules, dogs, cats, rats, and mice.
The Sieur de la Goute, an honorary king's advocate, had a sister, the widow of a merchant named Posni, the mother of four children. She was a very religious and benevolent woman. When the famine became more severe than it had been, she fed her children and freely assisted the poor with her surplus. Her sister-in-law, the wife of her brother, De la Goute, being differently inclined, reproved her for her conduct, asking her in anger, `What she would do when all should be expended?' Her reply was, `My sister, the Lord will provide for me.'
Posni continued to serve her family and the victims of the famine until her provisions were exhausted. She went to her sister in-law for assistance who chided her and tauntingly added, 'the Lord will provide your need.' Posni returned to her home sad and distressed, resolving to meet death patiently. Then her children came running and told her about a stranger who knocked on their door and threw two bushels of wheat into the house. After eating, a rejuvenated Posni returned to her sister in-law and said, 'the Lord hath provided for me'!
In the theatre of life, darkness is nothing but a backdrop for the glory of God.There is security in the faith of God. His eyes of affection are upon you. His providential hand will meet your every need. His merciful assistance will bring relief and restore your shattered lives.
You may never know the identity of the earthly benefactor. However, you can place absolute confidence in the greatest Benefactor this world has ever known, and that is Jesus Christ. The same eyes of grace that were upon Noah are now upon you.
Have a Purpose Driven Month.
P.S. Always remember…Worship is a lifestyle, not a momentary experience.
