Congratulations to Atlanta West Pentecostal Church Choir on winning the title of Best Church Choir in America 2009 for their performance at the Verizon Wireless How Sweet The Sound finale in Detroit, Michigan. The Finale was held on Saturday, November 7, 2009, at Joe Louis Arena. A near capacity crowd was present in Detroit to witness the top church gospel choirs in America competing for a chance to become the best church choir in America.

All in attendance had a hand-clapping, foot-stomping, good time, listening to the top gospel choirs in the country. Verizon's How Sweet The Sound choir competition put gospel music in the spotlight for the last several months as regional competitions were held across the country in Houston, St. Louis, Washington DC, Newark, Philadelphia, Detroit, Chicago, Atlanta, Memphis, Los Angeles, and Oakland.

Verizon crowned the winning choir, Atlanta West Pentecostal Church Choir, from Atlanta, Georgia, and they took home $30,000 in cash and prizes.
