Lady Peachena To Re-Form Youth Choir

Lady Peachena, is searching for talented children ages 7 to 15, to join New York's Youth Sunshine Choir.

Can your child sing? Innovative Gospel singer, Lady Peachena, is searching for talented children ages 7 to 15, to join New York's Youth Sunshine Choir.

However, because auditioning is sometimes stressful for children, there will be no formal auditions.  Youngsters are invited to come and sing along with original songs written by this Grammy-nominated songwriter. These weekly Vocal Music Workshops will begin on Wednesday, August 5th, and Friday, August 7th, '09, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., at Grace Christian Church, located at 434 Dewitt Avenue, just off Linden Blvd., in Brooklyn, New York.

Lady Peachena  first organized New York's Youth Sunshine Choir in 1989, while teaching at P.S. 3 in Brooklyn, and this delightful choir performed at several prestigious places around New York City, including The United Nations, the Brooklyn Academy of Music,  the Empire Building, and City Hall. Then in 1991, the choir recorded a powerfully-energetic, and  motivational album entitled, "Always Do The Right Thing!"

In recent years, Lady Peachena has been troubled by the gun violence that's been plaguing our city, and destroying too many of our youth, that's why she's determined to do something about in her own way. Now she's decided to use her gifts to reach out to the young people all over this city, and encourage them to change their lifestyles and negative influences by giving them positive, uplifting songs to sing. This long-time, dedicated educator has been a certified public school teacher for over 25 years, and she realizes that music is a powerful weapon that can be used to boost children's self-esteem and self-worth, and that it will have a lasting impact upon their lives.

Ironically, Lady Peachena recently met some of her former choir members who now, 17 years later, have children of their own, and they've also urged her to resurrect the choir for their children to sing with. So young people all across this city who like to sing are invited to join the re-formation of New York's Youth Sunshine Choir. Most of these weekly Vocal Music Workshops will be videotaped for a new children's TV show entitled, "Our Winner's Circle."
